We serve clients in various stages of their life, typically before retirement. Below are hypothetical examples of some client concerns that we would address in a financial plan.
Newly Married – Mr. and Mrs. Smith
My wife and I are newly married, we purchased our first house and have a kid on the way. I have a whole life insurance policy I bought 5 years ago and we each have group term life insurance through our jobs. We have successful careers and don’t know where to put our cash surplus. Our finances have always been separated and we think it’s a good time to start looking at them together. Do we need a bigger emergency savings account? Do we have adequate life insurance should something ever happen to one of us? When is the right time to start a 529 college savings account? How much will college cost in 18 years? Although far away, we would like to know how much we need to save in order to be on a healthy retirement track.
Middle Age – Mr. Thompson
I am in the middle portion of my career and have worked hard to save money. Currently I’m employed by a Fortune 500 company. I have a significant amount of cash savings and some money invested in the market. There are a few old 401k’s I have at several different companies I previously worked for. I’ve always done investments on my own, but I realized I would prefer to have a professional lead the way. It is important to me that my advisor keeps me aware of what he is doing and appropriately articulate the types of investments he is positioning me into.
Late Career Age – Mrs. Anderson
I am a single mother towards the end of my career and raised two kids by myself. I have money in the stock market and my stomach turns whenever I see it go down. I lose sleep at night wondering, will I have enough of money saved for retirement? I’m looking for somebody to help me understand my complete financial picture, create a financial plan for me to follow and take over my investments so I don’t have to worry about them.
