Our financial planning and portfolio management services are customized to meet your individual needs. We take the time to get to know your unique circumstances to provide the best service possible. The typical engagement process is outlined below.
While this is the traditional process, the steps outlined below may differ depending on your specific scope.
Step 1 (free no obligation) – Introduction | 15 – 20 minutes | Phone
This meeting is used to understand what you are looking to achieve. We provide a brief overview of how we operate and answer any questions you have.
Step 2 (free no obligation) – Discovery | 45 – 60 minutes | Phone/Video Conference/Face to Face
In our second meeting, we will dive into more detail on how we operate and discuss your specific circumstances. At the conclusion of this meeting, we will provide a cost estimate or reiterate our fee schedule to make sure you have a clear understanding of the costs associated with moving forward.
Step 3 – Decision | Varies | Phone/Email
We feel the client advisor relationship is crucial to the success of our engagement. At this time, consider our conversations in steps one and two and let us know if you have any further questions before deciding whether or not to move forward.
Step 4 – Information Gathering | 60 -120 Minutes | Email/Phone/Video Conference/Face to Face
We gather the necessary information to make investment decisions for portfolio management clients, which includes a determination of your risk tolerance, time horizon and financial profile. For financial planning clients, we gather additional documents such as tax returns, pay stubs, annual expense estimates and retirement account statements to develop your financial plan.
Step 5 – Review Financial Plan & Portfolio Allocations | 120 Minutes | Phone/Video Conference/Face to Face
We regroup usually two to four weeks after receiving all of your information. We will review your cash flow projections, as well as, all the key aspects of your custom financial plan. For some, we will review other scenarios that illustrate the impact of various decisions. There will be a list of action items to execute on. If a client has selected a one-time financial plan engagement, this would be the conclusion of our services.
If utilizing portfolio management services, we assist you in opening up your account(s), transferring funds and accessing online portals. Once complete, we will then trade into the portfolio model that we have created for you.
Step 6 Monitor and Update | Time Depends | Phone/Video Conference/Face to Face/Email
Ongoing Financial Planning Clients are encouraged to reach out to us if there is a major life event or to update the financial plan once a year.
Portfolio Management Clients – While we continually review and monitor your portfolio, we recommend having a portfolio review 2x a year. Clients are welcome to request a review more or less frequently, as desired.
