Opening Day

October 13, 2016 by Michael Schupak

Race Starting Line Image

I’m very excited to be launching my financial blog today. This will serve as an introduction about myself and get everyone up to speed on how I intend to make this the most exciting financial blog on the internet. As noted on the website (www.schupakfa.com), I spent over 10 years in corporate finance before making the career switch to Personal Financial Planning.

I was able to gain some invaluable experience working for both large companies and a start-up e-commerce company. However, two things were missing; my itch for helping people and my entrepreneurship passion was being shut out. My goal previously was to influence customers to spend as much money as possible (I was in retail). I have taken a 180-degree turn now, and will often be advising clients to save more. Although I launched Schupak Financial Advisors in the second half of 2015, I took steps towards my career change starting in 2013. First, I passed the Series 65, Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination. Next, I got my Certificate in Financial Planning from Boston University. It was then that I launched Schupak Financial Advisors while studying for the CFP® exam, which I passed in November 2015. I am currently a candidate for CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification.

I will post an article to this blog about once a month. Every article will have some type of tie into personal finance. However, this is not going to be a 401K vs. Roth IRA discussion, which is still very important, and I won’t be diving into the compounding effect of cutting out your Starbucks coffee for $2.50 a day (or is it now $3). My aim, and goal, is to break down our real life situations, actions, and strategies. Topics whose financial impact have gone unnoticed will be dissected and explored. I’ll embark on financial and life mistakes I have made and seen made in hopes that you won’t do the same. I’ll also share tips that have worked well for myself and others. And honestly, I’m not even afraid to talk about politics. Everything is on the table.

Like any project, this is early in the process being my first blog ever. There will likely be twists and turns along the way. Rarely do we venture through life in a straight line, so I’m very excited to see where this blog takes us!
